Curriculum

 

The importance of Infants Education resides in the fact that it is during this stage that the individual assimilates the most stimuli from the environment and forms the basis for future education.

We seek to stimulate and to promote a comprehensive development of the child during this stage. We distinguish between two essential levels for the development of the child: an initial level of acknowledgement and awareness of the social and physical environment, and a second level of consolidation and acquisition of the necessary skills for their admission into Primary Education.

What is more, we introduce children to the learning of the English language, with fifty per cent of school hours devoted to this subject, following the principles of globalization and organizing the different areas that make up the curriculum in order to permit children to move forward according to the needs and demands of today’s society.

Our active, lively and imaginative methodology stimulates the child’s creativity and his/her capacity for observation. One of the basic tenets of this methodology is the inclusion of new technologies, including iPads, at an early age, which allows us to increase learning in all its aspects.

Thanks to the location of our School in the middle of nature and to our ample facilities, students have access to a vegetable garden, to a mini-zoo, or to our Jungle Experience classroom–in which they can work with their five senses–all of which allow students to explore and discover their environment first hand.

Our concern with the well-being, development and learning of our students is constant, which makes our school a leader in providing quality education in the Valencian Community.

To provide children with life experiences and meaningful learning, to consolidate oral and written expression and to educate with joy and liberty are the main objectives pursued during Primary Education.

The use of a larger number of teaching and technological resources will help children in their absorption of knowledge and will make them participants in and protagonists of their own learning. Interactive whiteboards and iPads are tools which bring students closer to the reality of today’s society.

At this stage, children continue with their extensive study of the English language, which is also the language of choice for the teaching of a number of subjects.

Our main objective is to facilitate the growth of our students into open-minded men and women who can think critically, who are tolerant and respectful and who love progress and culture.

In order to achieve this goal we have launched new teaching initiatives which accelerate the learning cycle of our students in a constructive environment of emotional motivation.

The following aspects of our curriculum should be emphasized:

  • Project-based learning, a more interdisciplinary style and the extensive study of the English language will endow students with an all-important multicultural perspective of the world we live in.

  • Education in ethical values continues to be at the center of the whole teaching process. Both academic performance and correct behavior at School will be the basic parameters in the process of selection and permanence of everybody in the School community.

  • The preparation of our students in both contents and procedures that guarantee their success in the crucial university access tests.

Levante International School is an IB World School.

Since 2018 it has offered the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Thus, our students can choose to complete the Baccalaureate in its national format or in the International Baccalaureate format.

In addition, we also offer the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) for all students from 6th year of Primary Education to 4th year of ESO. This implies a continuity of the program at School for students aged 12 to 18.

And, finally, we are a Requesting School for the PYP, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, which will include students aged 3 to 11.

The member schools of the SEK International Institution, to which we belong, have a long history of implementing these recognized educational programs, since many of our schools have been carrying them out for more than a decade with successful results.

At Levante International School we have accepted the challenge with great responsibility, setting up a high-level teaching team. Both the teachers, the coordinators and management staff of the School have been trained by the International Baccalaureate to carry out their teaching in a very professional way.

The International Baccalaureate enhances the learning experience of the students during the school stage.
